Description

In this workshop, participants will learn techniques for creating and using visual aids for research presentations. We'll focus on designing slides that enhance instead of distract from your presentation, as well as presentation techniques to maximize audience attention and understanding.

This workshop will take place from1:30-2:30 pm in Nau Hall, room 342. Seating is very limited so we ask that you only register for this workshop if you will attend, and cancel at least 48 hours in advance if you are unable to attend a workshop that you have registered for.

Communication workshops will provide hands-on training for graduate students to learn the principles of communication and presentation, and to gain practice in using these critical skills. Workshops will include both instruction as well as time to practice and receive feedback. Participants will be encouraged to adapt the exercises to their intended audience (whatever that may be); however, emphasis will be given during instruction and practice to communicating to audiences outside of a participant's field.

This workshop is part of series intended to prepare students for the Three Minute Thesis Competition. For more information about the 3MT competition at UVA, click here. To enter the UVA 3MT competition, click here.
